PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION
In this master program, students will learn the foundations of quantum physics and its applications on computing, economy and finance, organisational design and new business models. Students will explore the potential of quantum technologies to address pressing challenges of mankind through the use of for example quantum algorithms and (hybrid) quantum computing to solve complex problems.
Quantum technology is a rapidly evolving field that has the potential to revolutionise various industries. Here are some examples:
Quantum sensing, which uses the principles of quantum mechanics to measure and analyse physical properties, can lead to more precise and energy-efficient measurements and improve the accuracy of technologies such as GPS and medical imaging. Quantum imaging uses quantum states of light to provide high-resolution images of objects that are difficult to image using classical techniques, which can have applications in medical imaging and materials science. Quantum computing uses quantum bits to perform complex calculations and solve problems difficult for classical computers. It has applications in cryptography, drug discovery, optimization, and machine learning. Quantum cryptography uses quantum mechanics to ensure secure communication, and its potential applications include secure communication between government agencies, military organisations, and financial institutions. Overall, quantum technology has the potential to revolutionise many areas of science and technology, enabling us to better understand and interact with the world around us.
Quantum technology is destined to be the most profoundly transformative technology that humans have ever uncovered. It will transform our way of life, both socially and economically, in ways that we can‘t yet fully grasp. Unprecedentedly dynamic, it’s poised to address problems spanning all present industries, making the impossible possible.
Students will acquire the skills managers and leaders need, in order to shape the future of the economy by applying quantum concepts in their (business) decision-making and leadership along the philosophical implications of quantum theory.
By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of quantum technologies, their underlying physics and its practical applications in business, society and politics – shaping the Quantum Economy.
